Researchers at the University of Trieste used Dewesoft SIRIUS Mini and DewesoftX to assess damage in fractured laminated glass subjected to repeated impacts. Experimental modal analysis revealed changes in vibration frequency and residual stiffness, highlighting differences between glass interlayers and demonstrating the potential of vibration-based monitoring for structural damage assessment.

Case Studies

Tests on seven M10 taps in Al 6082 compared oil, minimum quantity lubrication, and dry tapping using torque measurements with Dewesoft SIRIUS and DewesoftX. Oil gave the lowest and most stable torque, while MQL offered a promising lower-consumption alternative. Aluminum-specific DLC-coated taps performed best, but dry tapping proved unreliable. Using Dewesoft SIRIUS X and DewesoftX, engineers identify critical resonances, compare simulated and measured behavior, and refine test-bench designs to ensure reliable operation at high rotational speeds.

Case Studies

CETEST developed a remote railway vehicle monitoring system for long-term dynamics and homologation testing using Dewesoft OBSIDIAN Gate, IOLITE modules, and 5G connectivity. The solution enables autonomous data acquisition, automated safety alarms, secure remote data transfer, and reliable operation during network outages, reducing the need for onboard engineers while improving safety and efficiency.

Case Studies

The AQUILO Rocket Team used tensile testing, strain gauges, and Dewesoft data acquisition to evaluate composite materials for the AQUILO IX rocket. Carbon-fiber samples demonstrated sufficient strength for future structures, while the hybrid carbon/glass-fiber design failed near the material transition, highlighting the need for further development.

Application Notes

Students at Dresden University of Applied Sciences used DewesoftX to reverse-engineer an unknown CAN-FD vehicle speed signal without a DBC file and validate it against wheel-speed data. They also compared the Škoda Enyaq’s integrated acceleration sensors with a Bosch mm3 reference sensor, revealing differences in signal noise, filtering, offsets, and resolution.

Case Studies

Students at the IUT of Le Creusot investigated how microphone orientation affects acoustic measurements. Using a motorized rotation system, encoder, and Dewesoft data acquisition, they measured an MG370 microphone’s response at different angles and frequencies. The synchronized measurements and polar plots revealed how microphone sensitivity varies with the direction of incoming sound.

Case Studies

This study evaluates ride comfort in a Mini Cooper R56 through synchronized cabin noise and whole-body vibration measurements. Following ISO 5128 and ISO 2631-1, Dewesoft hardware and software were used to assess acoustic levels, vibration exposure, motion sickness, and vehicle dynamics under stationary and real-world driving conditions.

Application Notes

This study analyzes how motion strategy and operating speed affect the energy consumption of a KUKA SCARA robot. High-speed measurements of motor current, voltage, power, and energy show that speed has a greater impact on consumption than motion duration, while Motors 1 and 2 account for most of the robot’s total energy use.

Case Studies

HydroTeam developed a non-invasive method to estimate hydrogen fuel consumption in a Ford 3.5L V6 engine using existing ECU data. With Dewesoft DS-CAN2 and DewesoftX, the team combined engine parameters, lambda values, and the ideal gas law to calculate hydrogen mass flow in real time without a dedicated fuel flow meter.

Case Studies
