Vibration Monitoring Eliminates The Need for a Tuned Mass Damper in Vienna’s DC Tower 2 Building
During construction of Vienna’s DC Tower 2, engineers used real-time vibration monitoring, Dewesoft MEMS sensors, and a digital twin to track the tower’s actual stiffness and wind response. The live data revealed the structure was far stiffer than design estimates, cutting predicted top acceleration by about 30 percent and confirming that a tuned mass damper was unnecessary, saving several floors and around two million euros.
