Introducing DC-CT-1000I-S22DA Current Transducer: A Breakthrough in Current Measurement

The new DC-CT® current transducers offer all the benefits of a zero-flux current transducer with lower power consumption and in a smaller form factor. DC-CT-1000I-S22DA is the first product in the DC-CT® product family.

DC-CT-1000I zero-flux current transducer

The DC-CT-1000I current transducer is designed for precise current measurement applications. DC-CT® technology represents a Platiše Flux Sensor (PFS) which is used in a closed-loop configuration to offer all the benefits of a zero-flux current transducer but with lower power consumption and in a smaller form factor.

DC-CT® current sensing technology is suitable for accurate current measurements in the widest sense of the word. The device offers a wide measurement range, high bandwidth, excellent linearity, very high accuracy, very low-temperature drift, and lower power consumption as compared to the other zero-flux type current transducers.

Schematic diagram of Platiše DC-CT sensor

The first product from the DC-CT family is DC-CT-1000I-S22DA. This transducer model can measure DC current up to 1000 A and AC current up to 707 Arms. High bandwidth (-3 dB @ 500 kHz) enables accurate measurements in the most demanding applications such as electric motor and inverter testing.

The sensor offers high linearity (<100 ppm), temperature stability (3 ppm/K), and low noise (4 ppm RMS @ 100 kHz) resulting in a high accuracy level of 0.02%.

DC-CT-1000I-S22DA current transducer delivers up to 1000 amperes of continuous measurement range in one of the smallest form factors on the market. The inner diameter is 22 mm. The compact form factor is enabled by lower power consumption.

A single SIRIUSi-PWR-MCTS2 power supply will easily power four DC-CT sensors without any limitations. Signals from sensors are then brought to any low-voltage input, e.g. SIRIUS LV or STG.

The DC-CT-1000I-S22DA perfectly matches our power analyzers and data acquisition system with high-voltage inputs:

Combined this makes an excellent and accurate acquisition system for the most complex Power Analysis and Electric Motor Analysis applications.

Key features

  • High accuracy: High accuracy of 0.02 % of current measurements in the whole measurement range up to 1000 A.

  • Superb immunity: A single gapless core enables immunity to external magnetic fields with the highest possible sensitivity.

  • TEDS support: Both the sensor itself and the burden resistor have built-in TEDS compatibility, which makes it plug-and-play. Connecting the current transducer to the DAQ device will initiate automatic sensor recognition and settings will be configured automatically.

  • Isolation: Galvanic isolation between primary and secondary compliant with IEC 61010-1 CAT II 1000 V.

  • Low offset: A compact and gapless core design enables very low magnetic remanence and thus overall very low offset current.
