August 26, 2026

The SIRIUS® XHS high-speed data acquisition platform now supports a broader range of analog, sensor, and digital measurements with three new additions:

  • SIRIUS® XHS-UNI,

  • SIRIUS® XHS-CHG, and

  • SIRIUS XHS® CNT with Variable Trigger.

SIRIUS® XHS-UNI adds universal signal conditioning for strain gauges, voltage, IEPE sensors, potentiometers, RTDs, resistance, and current.

SIRIUS XHS-CHG provides dedicated charge acquisition for piezoelectric sensors, including both high-bandwidth and DC charge measurements.

The new Variable Trigger option for SIRIUS® XHS counters enables adjustable trigger thresholds for tachometers, encoders, inductive sensors, and other digital signals with non-standard logic levels.

The XHS-UNI and XHS-CHG analog amplifiers provide sampling rates of up to 15 MS/s, 5 MHz bandwidth, fully isolated inputs, and Dewesoft HybridADC technology. HybridADC combines high-bandwidth transient acquisition with high-dynamic, alias-free acquisition within the same instrument.

Together, the new inputs extend SIRIUS® XHS from high-speed transient acquisition to universal sensor measurements, charge acquisition, combustion analysis, strain measurement, encoder and tachometer measurements, and hardware-based real-time triggering.

SIRIUS XHS new releases

SIRIUS® XHS-UNI: universal high-speed DAQ amplifier

SIRIUS® XHS-UNI universal high-speed DAQ amplifier for fast and precise sensor measurements.

SIRIUS® XHS-UNI combines universal sensor connectivity with the high-speed acquisition capabilities of the SIRIUS® XHS platform. It supports sampling rates of up to 15 MS/s, 5 MHz bandwidth, and a slew rate greater than 100 V/µs, with full isolation on every analog input.

The amplifier supports a wide range of sensors and measurement types, including:

  • Full-, half-, and quarter-bridge strain gauges

  • Voltage measurements up to 100 V

  • IEPE sensors

  • Potentiometers

  • RTDs

  • Resistance

  • Current

Flexible voltage and current excitation allows sensors to be connected directly to the amplifier, while Class 1 and Class 2 TEDS support simplifies sensor identification and setup.

High-bandwidth and alias-free acquisition with HybridADC

SIRIUS® XHS-UNI uses Dewesoft HybridADC technology to support two acquisition modes within the same instrument: high-bandwidth acquisition for fast transients and high-dynamic, alias-free acquisition for precision measurements.

The combination of up to 15 MS/s sampling, 5 MHz bandwidth, and a slew rate above 100 V/µs enables the amplifier to capture rapidly changing signals while retaining the flexibility required for conventional sensor measurements.

This capability is relevant for jet engine and turbine testing, where high-bandwidth quarter-bridge strain measurements and constant-current push-pull technology are required. The high sampling rate, slew rate, IEPE support, and alias protection also support pyroshock measurements and high-speed transient recording.

For applications that combine analog and digital measurements, XHS-UNI can also be equipped with Supercounter inputs for event counting, waveform timing, encoders, tachometers, and gear tooth measurements.

The standard SIRIUSi-XHS-8xUNI configuration provides eight channels with female D-SUB9 connectors. Other connector configurations are available on request.

SIRIUS® XHS-CHG: high-speed and DC charge measurement

SIRIUS® XHS-CHG high-speed charge amplifier for piezoelectric, voltage, and IEPE measurements.

SIRIUS® XHS-CHG adds dedicated charge acquisition to the SIRIUS XHS platform for piezoelectric sensors used in dynamic, combustion, propulsion, road-load, and high-temperature measurements.

The amplifier supports sampling rates up to 15 MS/s and 5 MHz analog bandwidth, allowing it to acquire fast charge signals such as rapid pressure changes during combustion and propulsion testing.

Charge ranges from ±1,000 to ±500,000 pC provide coverage across different piezoelectric sensor sensitivities and measurement ranges. Configurable input coupling, from DC coupling to adjustable high-pass filtering, enables both dynamic and DC charge measurements.

Each input is fully isolated, supporting measurement setups with different ground potentials.

Charge, voltage, and IEPE measurements

SIRIUS® XHS-CHG is not limited to charge sensors. The same amplifier also supports voltage measurements from ±10 V down to ±0.1 V and IEPE sensors with adjustable excitation current.

This allows charge, voltage, and IEPE sensors to be combined within a measurement system without requiring a separate amplifier type for each signal.

Like XHS-UNI, XHS-CHG uses HybridADC technology to combine high-bandwidth transient acquisition with high-dynamic, alias-free recording.

These capabilities support applications including:

  • Combustion pressure measurement

  • Engine and propulsion testing

  • Rocket propulsion measurements

  • Road-load data acquisition

  • Dynamic measurements with piezoelectric sensors

  • Measurements in high-temperature environments where sensors with integrated electronics may not be suitable

SIRIUS® XHS counters with variable trigger: adjustable trigger levels for digital inputs

SIRIUS® XHS Supercounters with adjustable trigger levels for flexible digital signal acquisition.

Digital measurement signals do not always conform to standard TTL or CMOS logic levels. The Variable Trigger option for SIRIUS XHS Supercounters allows the trigger threshold to be adjusted according to the actual input signal.

The module combines eight Supercounters, 24 digital inputs, and eight digital outputs and supports:

  • Event counting

  • Waveform timing

  • Encoder measurements

  • Tachometer measurements

  • Gear tooth measurements

Eight digital inputs can also be configured with AC coupling.

Variable trigger from -2 V to +50 V

Instead of relying only on predefined digital logic levels, Variable Trigger allows engineers to set the trigger threshold from -2 V to +50 V with 12 mV resolution.

Preset configurations are available for TTL/CMOS and inductive signals, while a custom mode allows the trigger behavior to be configured for other sensors and signal levels.

This enables direct acquisition of tachometer signals and other digital signals with non-standard logic levels. In many measurement setups, the adjustable threshold can remove the need for separate external signal conditioning.

The counter inputs provide 15 MHz bandwidth and 32-bit counter resolution for timing and event measurements. Integrated 5 V and 12 V sensor supplies support direct connection of common counter and tachometer sensors.

Hardware-based trigger out with response below 1 µs

SIRIUS XHS counters also support hardware-based real-time Trigger Out. A measured event can generate a hardware output with a response time below 1 µs.

This enables measurement events to trigger time-critical external actions, including alarms, protection functions, and emergency shutdown systems.
