Build, Release & Compliance Engineer (m/f)

openDAQ platform

Job Description

openDAQ provides a core framework that lets users create their own DAQ devices and signal processing blocks, and integrate industry-standard protocols. All of these are built as plugins, which we call modules.

As the number of users and integrations grows, the Build, Release & Compliance Engineer makes sure the openDAQ core and its modules stay stable, work together and reach users reliably. You'll own the infrastructure that builds, tests and ships openDAQ across platforms, and the compliance certification process that defines what it means for a third-party module or device to be openDAQ compatible.

What you will do

  • Own CI/CD pipelines and build infrastructure

  • Maintain and extend the CMake build system and dependency management

  • Automate package builds and publishing across all supported platforms; own the release process, including versioning and branching rules

  • Design and maintain the test framework, including system, integration, regression and benchmark suites

  • Own the openDAQ compliance testing system and certification procedure

  • Maintain hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure

  • Integrate code quality and supply-chain tooling (static analysis, coverage, SBOM, license and vulnerability scanning, code signing)

  • Track and report stability and performance trends

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in build, release, DevOps or test infrastructure

  • Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)

  • Experience with cross-platform builds on Windows, Linux and macOS with multiple compilers (MSVC, GCC, Clang)

  • Proficiency in Python or shell scripting

  • Solid C++ knowledge, enough to read, debug and diagnose failures in a large, complex codebase

  • Strong CMake skills, including writing and maintaining non-trivial build systems

  • Experience with test automation and test frameworks (e.g. GoogleTest, pytest)

  • Solid understanding of Git workflows, branching strategies and semantic versioning

  • Clear spoken and written communication in English

Nice to have

  • Experience with packaging and distribution (Debian packages, Windows installers, Python wheels, NuGet) and C++ package managers (vcpkg, Conan)

  • Cross-compilation and embedded Linux targets (e.g. ARM, Yocto)

  • Docker and containerized build environments

  • Experience with static analysis, sanitizers and code coverage tooling

  • Familiarity with SBOMs, license compliance, code signing or the EU Cyber Resilience Act

  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or lab test environments

  • Experience building performance benchmarks or monitoring dashboards (e.g. Grafana)

  • Experience with certification or compliance testing programs

  • Background in test and measurement, DAQ or industrial automation

  • Contributions to open-source projects

Applications from less experienced candidates are also welcome if they demonstrate strong motivation and technical understanding.

What we're looking for in you

  • Critical thinking: You question assumptions and don't accept ideas at face value. You consider the wider context, and you aim to solve problems, not just ship features

  • End-to-end ownership: You research, plan and execute your work, from the initial idea to final validation

  • Curiosity and a drive to learn: You enjoy working with and learning about new technologies and tools, and you're comfortable starting a task with incomplete knowledge and learning as you go

  • Collaboration: You work towards shared goals, not just your own tasks, and are comfortable offering, asking for, and accepting help

What we offer

  • Work on an open-source core used by industry worldwide

  • Direct influence on architecture and the long-term direction of openDAQ

  • Technically challenging and meaningful work without “feature churn”

  • Collaboration with experienced engineers in core systems and protocols, including those from Dewesoft and HBK

  • Competitive salary and a performance-based bonus system

Location: Trbovlje, Slovenia. Possibility of a hybrid work setup.

Rewards: based on individual and company performance

Employment type: Full-time
