DewesoftX 2024.4 Released - Support for the New X-line Devices

We are excited to announce DewesoftX 2024.4, our latest release packed with new features. This update introduces seamless integration of our new X-line devices with DewesoftX software. You can now save your export settings, which minimizes errors and accelerates the post-processing workflow. Furthermore, the update includes the new LGS FBG Texys module, supporting devices using optical sensors.

Explore the What's New section and dive deep into other updates in the DewesoftX 2024.4 version.

Support for the new X-line devices (SIRIUS X, IOLITE X)

Starting from DewesoftX 2024.4, our new X-line devices (IOLITE X & SIRIUS X) are seamlessly integrated and fully functional. These network-based devices are automatically detected and listed under Detected Devices in the software's HW settings. Adding a device to your system configuration is as simple as selecting it from the list. The discovery module will inform you if you have misconfigured the device or network card.

Detection of X-line devices

We support our currently available device configurations in either Voltage or IEPE mode:

Both IOLITE-X and SIRIUS-X devices support PTPv2 synchronization (IEEE 802.3) by default, allowing them to function as either clock providers or slave devices. SIRIUS-X devices also feature a 4-pin LEMO connector for IRIG-B-DC synchronization. Additionally, SIRIUS-X devices offer support for reading and transmitting CAN data.

X-line devices are fully openDAQ™ compliant, enabling them to stream acquired data to any third-party openDAQ clients.

Option to create templates from export settings

You often export data to different formats with specific custom settings when analyzing measurements. To streamline the data analysis process, we’ve introduced a feature that allows you to save custom export settings as templates. This functionality is available for Text/CSV (*.txt, *.csv), ASAM ODS (*.atfx), and UNV (*.unv) exports. Using these custom templates helps reduce errors during export and simplify their data analysis workflow.

Choose your desired export format in the Export tab and configure any additional settings. Once you have set everything up, save these settings as a template under the Template tab. Templates are stored in a database file (*.dxb) in the Setup folder, making them easy to share with colleagues. You can also further customize, rename, or set templates as default settings if needed.

Support for LGS fiber optic devices and sensors

Optical sensors are often the preferred choice for applications requiring high precision, non-contact measurement, and resistance to environmental interference. You can now use optical sensors in combination with the supported LGS FBG Texys module and TSI series UC-V2 Fiber Bragg Grating interrogators. These optical acquisition systems, available with 4 or 8 channels, offer industrial-quality performance proven in the field.

LGS FBG Setup configuration

These FBG interrogators enable simultaneous measurement of various parameters at multiple points along the same optical fiber, including temperature, deformation, pressure, displacement, and acceleration.

You can connect up to 32 channels in a serial pattern on each channel. Before starting a measurement, zero every sensor in the Sensor value tab. You may define sensors by range and select the corresponding channel accordingly.

In the channel setup under Spectrums, you can preview the FFT spectrum of each channel to verify the sensors before starting a measurement.

What else is new?

You will find additional details about all features listed below on Dewesoft’s Engineering Support Portal:

  • A simplified adjustable interface for adding math modules

  • Allow entering custom channel name when predefined channels are enabled

  • Data presentation status now available on widgets

  • Option to lock white cursor through sequencer action block

  • A select all channels shortcut and channel filter are now available in the C++ script

  • The modal test module now supports channels with a sample rate divider as an input for excitation and response channels (excitation and response channels must have the same sample rate).

  • Authentication with username and password now available with the OPC-UA client module

  • Ability to write into input or data-header channels in OPC-UA server from any OPC-UA client

  • NNew FW package that unlocks PTPv2 (UDP/IPv4) synchronization for OBSIDIAN devices

  • Option to adjust the Wifi through DewesoftX for OBSIDIAN-R8w device

  • The text-box widget now offers an option to select expressions directly from the toolbar

  • Changed default synchronization settings for all new-platform devices to prefer PTP over IRIG-B-DC synchronization

DewesoftX 2024.4 is a free upgrade for all Dewesoft customers and is compatible with all Dewesoft data acquisition systems. You can download the upgrade from our download center, where you will also find a changelog listing all the minor improvements and bug fixes.
